I'm getting a Z4 3.0 E85 soon and have heard lots of chatter about common problems with E85s, so I wanted to draft a list that covered the most common problems, how much they might cost and at roughly what mileage one might expect to see these issues occur.
Changed fluids - oil/filter, diff oil, gearbox oil. Changed run flats for eagle f1s (massive improvement). Cleaned hood drain vents (don't forget the sunscreen vent too at the front (under the scuttle panel in the engine bay). Changed crappy BMW headunit for aftermarket dab one. Stubby aerial fitted.

Hi Mike I'd seen this youtube link but is another mis-describing how to get the module out if you have a pre-facelift e85. I'd agree replacing the relays is an option if you are reasonably competent and have a decent quality iron and solder removal kit, but there are a LOT of posts on the web where people have run in to problems extracting the pin solder cleanly.

I spoke to a local BMW mechanic who spoke of various woes involving oil leaks (oil pan, valve cover, oil filter gasket). He especially meant this for the 35 twin turbo engine.
