01-13-2013 09:41 AM. Don't own a 6D but I've read plenty. It appears that the 6D's shutter assembly is whats it is and nothing that firmware can alter. Aside from the lower max shutter speed, the assembly is rated at 100,000 actuations instead of 150,000.
As the 6D has not been released yet I wish to just get an idea about the key differences between the 6D and 5D mkIII. This camera will be used predominantly for landscape work. The one thing I noticed that in my opinion is an advantage for the 6D is lack of aliasing filter. Considering the 5d mkIII has a filter I am wondering if this helps with
Bob from Boston siad it right, "You can't go far wrong with either camera." But I can't, nor can he, tell you what is best for you. I can tell you what I would do. I owned the 5D Mk II and a Mk III. They are simply fantastic cameras. If they can't get the shot, for whatever reason, it probably

That's why we always use the 5D mark III as a main camera, and close ups for lapel mic'd shots. And of course, the primary yet somehow not as practical reason of getting the 6D over the 5D mark II.
The 6D would be an upgrade from the 5D, even compared to the 5D MK II. In low light noise the 6D even has an edge over the 5D MK III, but it is really splitting hairs, but the 6D features are less than the 5D MK III and the 6D with only one SD memory card slot and requires using the menu system to change white balance, so not as easy with buttons to quickly access some features.
The one issue this ignores is the amount of time necessary to create an exposure. I tested a 5D II and tested it against the 60Da for astrophotography and was blown away by the difference. The filter on the 60Da is so much better (filter. not sensor) that the 60Da can capture an image in substan
