My car been cranking but it wont start. i first thought it was the battery so i went and bought a brand new battery and registered it to the system im getting a notification on my CID saying charge too low even after a new battery been installed. on my scanner, its showing me that the car is only getting 11.2V only. My question are:
The usual answer from BMW (After you´ve tried to reset the unit with the three button combo - which by the way also works when ignition is off - with comfort entry / key) that you will have to replace the unit - HOWEVER, and here it goes:
6. After the programming is finished, the battery replacement is finished. Always connect a BMW approved battery charger/power supply (SI B04 23 10 ). B. Vehicles equipped with the B58, N55, N57, N63T, N63TU2, S63 and N74 engines Please replace the12-volt battery at the second engine oil service (combined with engine oil service counter #2)

Bottom line for my BMW, reconnecting my battery triggered the routine that reinitialized my active steering, removed the warning and straightened the steering wheel. Others complain of low power steering fluid, bad angle sensor or weak battery. First try this, it's a very easy fix and may work for you.
Scenario B: Customer states the engine malfunction warning is active (the vehicle has not been recently reprogrammed or a battery reset has not been performed). Or The solution to scenario A was not effective. Solution: Perform the applicable test plan for the fault stored. The test plan provides basic diagnostic steps for these faults.
well the problem ended up being the PDC control module, it's been replaced and i just picked up the car now. (didn't get a chance to take care of the matter any earlier due to the holiday seasons and new year) But there was a snow storm going on today when i picked up the car so i just wanted to hurry home, so when i got home, the front sensors work properly now but the PDC still turns off

ANY change in style or capacity, the battery MUST be registered. Registering the battery tells the DME which program to use for the rate of charge (ROC). It's always a good idea to register a new battery. Alternator: The alternator contains the voltage regulator with brushes and is there only as a failsafe device.
