Ihave just gotten Assassin's Creed for my computer, but I see no option to let me use a gamepad. I have a device that is a USB on one side and a PS2 controller port on the otherside, letting me use a PS2 controller for PC games. This device worked smoothly with Devil May Cry 4, but I cannot find any gamepad options for Assassin's Creed.

Ill edit the above info. An xbox 360 controller should work no problem without X360CE but and xbox one or newer controller definitely needs it. It seems like microsoft changed how the trigger is read from the original 360 controller to the xbox one. It seems to read the xbox one controller triggers like joysticks, it labels them as axis inputs.

Thesefiles can be found by just googling "Assassins Creed 1 Xbox one controller fix" and going to the "PCGamingWiki" link. Download the .zip on that page, extract the two files into the games install directory, and you're good to go. Remember to change the input method in the main menu to "Xbox controller"
